Dayot Upamecano born on October 27, 1998, in Evreux, France.

He is of Bissau-Guinean descent and grew up in La Madelaine, a neighborhood with many African immigrants. He has five siblings, four sisters, and a younger brother.


Dayot Upamecano began his football career at the youth level Evreux alongside Rafik Guitane and Ousmane Dembele.

He moved to the youth academy of Valenciennes in 2013 before joining Liefering in 2015 and Red Bull Salzburg in 2016.

He signed for the Italian club RB Leipzig on a four-and-a-half-year deal for a reported fee of €10 million on January 13, 2017. He made his debut for the club in a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund on February 4, 2017.

He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 victory against Augsburg.
